Historic Center
Monuments, streets, and centuries of Atlantic history
The Boutique Hotel Teatro is located in the heart of one of the world’s best-preserved historic centers.
From the Cathedral of Angra to the Palace of the Captain-Generals, each monument tells a part of Portugal’s Atlantic history. A city to explore on foot, with surprises around every corner.
Monte Brasil and Marina
Between the nature reserve and the open Atlantic
Monte Brasil and Angra Marina, two neighbouring attractions well worth visiting.
Monte Brasil offers walking trails and panoramic views over the bay. The Marina is the starting point for whale watching, boat trips and diving. Nature and the sea are always within easy reach for guests staying at Boutique Hotel Teatro.
The Sala dos Fornos features a small space dedicated to the Ilhéus das Cabras, one of the most emblematic sites on Terceira Island. More than just an exhibition space, it is a tribute to the way of life of those who, for generations, lived in close connection with these islets.
Memorial to the Ilhéus das Cabras
A space of remembrance
The history of one of the island’s most iconic landmarks.
In the Sala dos Fornos, a small memorial space preserves the memory of the Ilhéus das Cabras, one of the most iconic and unique places on Terceira Island. It bears witness to the way of life of those who, for generations, lived in close connection with these islets.
Among the exhibits are old photographs of the islets and the Evangelho family, their first owners, including images from sheep-shearing day, when men, women and children would gather for this essential task. Original tools are also on display, such as the shearing scissors and the scales used to weigh the wool.
One of the items of greatest historical and sentimental value is one of the last blankets made from the wool of these sheep, which was later sent to the island of São Jorge, where it was dyed and woven according to the region’s traditional methods.
This memorial celebrates Azorean identity, traditional craftsmanship and the connection between people, nature and the sea. We invite our guests to discover this heritage and the story of those who preserved it for future generations.
